During the last meeting the membership voted to replace the Christmas Dinner with an October picnic. Similarly to the way we replace the second meeting with the Christmas Dinner, the picnic will replace the first meeting. For more detailed about the upcoming event, click here.

Activities

Monthly ARA Events

Regular Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month except July and August (first Tuesday only).  The meetings are held at St. John's Lutheran Church Educational Building, 2nd floor, 141 S. Potomac Street (across from the Library), Hagerstown, MD starting at 7:00 pm.

Pre Meeting Socials (light dinner ordered individually) are held the first Tuesday of each month, 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm at the American Legion, 405 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, MD.  They precede our meetings at St. John's.

Monthly ARA Breakfasts are held on the fourth Saturday of each month, 9:00 am, at the Railroad Junction Family Restaurant, 301 N. Burhans Blvd, Hagerstown, MD

Upcoming ARA Events

Great Hagerstown Hamfest will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at the Washington County Ag Center, Route 65 S, Hagerstown, MD, 7:00 am - 12:00 pm.  Refreshment stand.  Admission: $7, Vendor tables:  outside under pavilion, $10, inside, $15.

ARRL Field Day will be held from 2:00 pm June 27, 2020 until 2:00 pm June 28, 2020, located behind the Leitersburg Vol Fire Dept.  Come participage with us!

HARC Hike  ARA will provide communications for the annual HARC Hike which starts at Shepardstown and ontinues on the C & O Canal Towpath.  The Date is June 6, 2020.  Herm Niedzielski K2AVA is communications coordinator for ARA.

Ft. Ritchie Triathlon  ARA stands ready to provide communicatins for the Ft. Ritchie Triathlon again this year. More to come as the details are ironed out. Usual start/end times are from 8A till about 12-1P.  Sign up with Garry Laing, W3GTL, to volunteer.

The Hiram Percy Maxim Special Event station(s) will again celebrate HPM's birthday...  Operate from your home QTH and receive contacts from all across the U.S. and Canada.  Sign up with Garry Laing

JFK Ultramarathon  ARA  members will provide communications for the 52nd annual JFK Ultramarathon on Saturday, November 21, 2020 with locations from Boonesboro to the Appalachian Trail then 26 miles on the C & O Canal then on rolling roads to Williamsport, MD.  Take a several hour radio shift to help.  Butch Eigenbrode NI2W can use you as a volunteer.

ARA Christmas Dinner is held each year in mid-December; while our venue for the past few years has been Western Sizzlin' in Hagerstown, we are open to varying it. Let us know if you have any thoughts as to where to hold it in 2020!.

Winlink 2000 Training 2.0!

The Antietam Amateur Radio Association (ARA) sponsoring a second WinLink 2000 Training Class SATURDAY OCTOBER 19.

VHF Contest

I hope that everyone is checking their rigs and antennas to be sure these parts work good! Why? The second full weekend of September. Begins 1800 UTC Saturday and runs through 0259 UTC Monday (September 14-16, 2019).

  • Bands-All authorized frequencies above 50 MHz (6 Meters).

Mode - Any mode, ssb, fm, am, digital ......

Objective: For amateurs in the US and Canada (and their possessions) to work as many amateur stations in as many different 2 degrees x 1 degree Maidenhead grid squares as possible using authorized frequencies above 50 MHz. Stations outside the US & Canada (and their possessions) may only work stations in the US (and its possessions) and Canada.
