Traffic Handling Tutorial

On Saturday, April 28 th the MDC Section Traffic Manager, W3YVQ conducted a training session on the National Traffic System (NTS) traffic handling.

The session is highly informative in regard to traffic handling and proper voicing of voice messages. I highly recommend everyone interested in ARES/RACES operation to listen to this training.

Presentation: Solar and Modern Power Systems for Ham Radio

Edit: 3/20 - Due to the incliment weather this meeting has been cancelled. We hope to reschedule for a future date.

Guest speaker - Bob Bruninga, WB4APR

The technology of power systems has changed drastically in the last decade, yet most ham's concepts of shack power, field power, emergency power and renewable power are woefully out of date. Did you know you can use a modern loaptop power supply on anything from 100 to 240 VAC OR 150 to 330 VDC? It can provide up to 6 amps for portable operation and take only 10% the size and weight of older power supplies. Also Home Solar has come of age. Payback is now in under 5 years and then you get free power for LIFE!
